DLZMO STYLE: BIRTHDAY PINK
It’s my birthday. Well it was… 2 years ago. There I was turning 24 and itching to try something new and outside of my usual monochromatic style scope. But it’s December, it's cold out and my go-to black trench and skinnies were calling my name. Still, I challenged myself. I set my sights on one specific color (like a true monochrome maniac) and decided to make that color the focal point. However misplaced the buck stopped at the whimsical blush pink - a color tint seldom seen through wintertime, and in NYC no less. Still, Its my birthday and I’ll wear pink if I want to!
The outfit begins with the crisp of a fresh-out-the-box white dress shirt paired with the languid pink chino pants draped and guarded by a cozy faux fur hooded coat and signed by a pair of blush pink brogues. Perfect for champagne toasts and birthday roasts!
Flirty love letters, painful romance a true misplaced beauty. Out of comfort, into the fantasy, open to the love of the light and airy. From Rihanna in monochromatic pink to neon signs and blush vinyl vibes. The lonely hearts club is open and it's blush pink mandatory.
This week’s note speaks to the miseducation on color. Most people don’t know the difference between a color, a shade, a tone and a tint. Blush pink (as I mentioned) is a tinted color. In color theory, a tint is the mixture of a color with white, which increases lightness. A shade is the mixture of a color with black, which reduces lightness. A tone is produced either by the mixture of a color with gray, or by both tinting and shading.
