ORIENT-EXTREME FT YHORDANKA
PHOTOGRAPHY BY ALEXANDER WONG AND JON SOUTH
After months of dedication to velvet dresses and puffer coats, with the new fashion season comes a fresh batch of trends to get our heads around. So will you be dusting off your trench coats, trying the new oriental silhouettes or embracing an Eighties revival?
From Japanese prints at Gucci and stylized chinoiserie at Prada, to delicate silks at Fendi, the Fall/Winter 2016-2017 collections invited us to journey east, where traditional oriental prints are given a western twist. Prada’s marabou-trimmed silk separates had a touch of the orient about their silhouettes - think mandarin collars, wrap fronts and edges piped with a contrasting colour binding. Elsewhere Gucci and Diane von Furstenberg experimented with silk robe shapes. Now that actual fall/winter is still circling around us world citizens watch as Eyeland Eyewear Co-Founder and COO Yhordanka Akwanzatakes on the Western ode to the East.
