TRYING AMSTEL BIER (0.0% ALC)

Amstel 0.0% is a can of 355ml pure non-alcoholic Dutch beer. My instant familiarity with it can be compared to what has to be most Jamaican kid’s first ‘beer’, the Malta. Do you remember prying your first bottle of Malta open and sipping from the tip? Do you remember hanging on to the bottle stopper as some sort of memento to commemorate your first brew? Hallelujah amen! Well, it tastes like that with a ‘toops’ of water.

Amstel Bier is a 146 year old beer produced by the Amstel Brewery in Amsterdam. In 1968 Heineken International took over and moved production to their own plant in Zoeterwoude in 1982.

I’ll be at Heineken House in Barbican Square Tomorrow Friday August 26th celebrating the closing of a  fantastic summer. If you can come out and party with me then come along. If not, stay tuned to the site for a full account of the best of the night. Heineken, Open Your World!
